Summary of the project:

LMMPO implemented a WASH project, funded by YHPF (Project Code#10395), for the most vulnerable host communities to alleviate the suffering of conflict-affected population in As-Sukhnah and Az-Zaydia districts, Al-Hudaydah Governorate, from Oct. 10th, 2018 to Jan. 9th 2020. The project intervened by installation of 6 solar systems for 6 public water wells in both districts, construction of 360 communal latrines for IDPs in As-Sukhna District, provision of 1500 basic hygiene kits, and training of community volunteers on hygiene promotion and monitoring of the water supply of the 6 water sources. The water, sanitation, and hygiene situation in both districts have improved as vulnerable population now get easy-fetched clean drinking water and have safe latrines that protect their dignity.

Main outcomes

  • Installation of solar systems (6 completed solar systems provided for public water wells that serve about  26,554individuals in both districts).

  • 1500 HHs of the affected population provided with basic hygiene kits.

  • Training of community volunteers on hygiene promotion and monitoring of the water supply of the 6 water sources.
