I have been able to afford medicine when my children get sick or taking them to hospital

Salam is a forty-year-old widow who lives with her father and her 5 children in Al Suqnah District, Al Hodeida Governorate. The family was selected as a beneficiary from the Food and WASH project #9582.

Salam works really hard in anything she can do to cover her family's needs as she is the only supporter of her family. However, whatever earned by Salam is spent on buying little food that is not enough to feed the family the whole month.  Salam said, "When one of my children gets sick, I can't afford medicine because the money earned is only enough to buy flour just in kilos." The project targeted Salam's family in 3 consecutive rounds distributing food and a one-off hygiene kit.

Salam added, "Our life conditions have improved. Since the project started, I have been able to afford medicine when my children get sick or taking them to hospital, and I can afford buying clothes and shoes for them." Through following up Salam's condition, it became clear that the project has lighten the heavy burden of her family's difficult life. Salam's house was without a roof and she couldn't afford to cover it. Salam said. "When it rains, we go to shelter in our neighbor's house, but now I bought a cover for my house's roof and we don't go to our neighbor's house for shelter anymore." The project was a solution for Salam's family problems and a suffering reliever.
